Holiday Recommendations – 21/22

Looking for some reading, listening or watching recommendations for the holiday season?

Throughout the year, in our Newsletter, we have shared various recommendations for reading, listening and watching. We share some of these below that you might like to enjoy over the holiday period.

Simon Sinek often comes up in our conversations when we’re talking about concepts and resources. We often use The Golden Circle framework that Sinek introduced in his Start with Why book when working with social enterprises and organisations.

Annie recently came across this ABC interview with Ash Barty’s Mindset Coach, Ben Crowe. From his definition of anxiety – worrying about things you can’t control – to discussing living your values, this is an amazing podcast that we at TDi have definitely got something out of and want to share with you.

At TDi, we have used Patrick Lencioni’s work and principles to help guide our own team culture. To this day, we use the terms Hungry, Humble and Smart to guide our success as a team. In this TEDtalk, Lencioni describes these terms and how he believes that they are the key to successful team. These are also outlined in more detail in his book, The Ideal Team Player. Whether you’re a leader trying to create a culture around teamwork, a staffing professional looking to hire real team players, or a team player wanting to improve yourself, we recommend this talk to you.

Impact Investing: Reflections on Impact Resistance

TDi’s work is inspired by Jed Emerson’s concept of Blended Value. In this emotionally charged and energising speech, Jed talks about the intersection of Money and Meaning.

In TDi’s Reading Guide from 2019, Annie shared her favourite book at that time, and it is still a recommended read today.

“I have many favourite reading resources.  I’m thankful that we live in a time where information and ideas can be so freely shared.  I’ve chosen Reinventing Organisations by Frederic Laloux. I remember when I first read this about 2.5 years ago it awakened and gave language to a stack of idea I’d been playing with.  I remember thinking “this is great, but is it really possible?”

TDi has begun its ‘teal journey’ and we have a long way to go, but I now not only believe it is possible but it is the future. We’ll be left behind without this type of thinking and practice.”

A podcast about the business of sustainability, John Treadgold interviews business leaders in sustainability, impact investing and social enterprise who are re-defining economics and building companies as a force for good. TDi’s very own CEO features in the line up as well!
